She received professional/education certificates from George Washington University, the Federal Executive Institute and Baltimore School of the Bible. Department of Housing and Urban Development, she stepped down from a senior executive position to assume leadership roles at grassroots nonprofit organizations engaged in community economic development. ![]() She earned degrees from Goucher College and the Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs at Syracuse University. Maxine Bigby Cunningham ’70 is a recognized writer, author, speaker, and mental health educator/advocate. After nearly 30 years of public service with the federal government, Cunningham began a second career in management positions with grassroots nonprofit organizations. After surviving a stroke and experiencing several fainting episodes, Maxine Bigby Cunningham embraced a wholistic approach to getting back on her feet and learning to walk again. ![]()
